Quote of the Day

April 29, 2011

“Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own.”
–Robert A. Heinlein

I first read this post and my thoughts immediately turned to submission. A submissive places her Dom’s needs ahead of her own. But merely being submissive to someone does not mean that you love them. Rather, it is when you share in their happiness or lack thereof. If a certain someone is upset, so am I. If he’s happy, so am I. But that goes both ways. If I’m upset, then he can’t be happy. It just won’t happen.

There are plenty of people in my life which I love…and happiness depends on them being happy. I know…it sounds a bit pathetic, right? But it’s not. Think about it. If someone you love is going through a rough time…say, their wife is divorcing them, how can you be happy? I mean, honestly. Think about it. It’s devastating. You share in their sorrow. You try your best to cheer them up…but that can only go so far.

I hope this has made some sense to someone.

Not pathetic at all. Rather, if the world was filled with people like yourself, it would be a much happier, safer, fufilling, productive, enriching and peaceful place. What you’re talking about is taking responsability for your relationships. You’re not giving people the answer of, “Wow, that sucks, but you’re on your own with that.” Far too many people do, and the world suffers for it. Thank you for being a positive role model. 🙂
